Columbia University's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) department is entrusted with the responsibility of managing all phases of Asbestos and Lead issues in academic, administrative, research, and residence hall buildings. Responsibilities of this office include Asbestos and Lead awareness training, regular inspection activities.

The EH&S is also tasked with the responsibility of overseeing all phases of construction and renovation projects for maintaining of compliance of Asbestos and Lead related issues.
