Environmental Health & Radiation Safety/Environmental Health & Safety Mission Statement:

Columbia University is committed to establishing and maintaining a healthful and safe work environment for our staff, our neighbors and surrounding communities. Through ,ongoing operational evaluations and controls,  the University strives to eliminate individual risks and  the environmental impacts of its activities.

These goals are realized through expansive programs, including training and campus surveys in laboratory and chemical safety, hazardous waste management, industrial hygiene, asbestos and lead abatement, chemical tracking and radiation protection in compliance with local, state and federal regulatory authorities.

EH&RS/EH&S provides a broad range of services and actively develops partnerships with faculty and departmental personnel to creatively achieve and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and University policy in the most efficient manner possible.
